Loveable Reunion Is MUST WATCH

I rarely slap a "must-watch" tag on a video, especially one that clocks in at over an hour, but if you’re a Cubs fan, this is must-watch/listen. (And if you’re reading this and you aren’t a Cubs fan, seek help).

Billed as a new podcast featuring former teammates Anthony Rizzo and David Ross, the show celebrates the 10th anniversary of that legendary 2016 World Series run. It is a deep dive into the clubhouse culture that broke the 108-year curse, featuring heavy-hitter interviews with guys like Jon Lester and Kris Bryant.

I went in expecting highlights that we've all already heard...I came out shocked, laughing, and genuinely moved. I won't spoil too much because I want these stories to be heard for the first time directly from Rizzo and Ross, but here are a few snippets...

The "Bill Murray Speedball"

Rizzo tells this story about Bill Murray introducing him to a "speedball" (a combo of Woodford Reserve and 5-Hour Energy) right before Game 1. Rizzo even casually drops that he ripped one during the Game 7 rain delay...

Rizzo's Slump Busting Routine

Rizzo goes into detail about his slump-busting routine, which involved taking batting practice completely ass naked. Said it would happen 2 or 3 times a year and really helped him loosen up.

Carrying Off Ross

On a more emotional note, the episode pulls back the curtain on why Rizzo and J-Hey felt the need to carry Ross off after Game 7. They mention how important he was to those 2 guys specifically and even said that Heyward had in his contract that David Ross stays in the nicest suite at every hotel.

Final Verdict: This is the most authentic look at the 2016 squad I’ve ever seen. I’ll be posting updates as each episode drops, but for now, go watch the first one.
